During the last decade, this avenue has become the
shopping street par excellence in Mexico City due to
its wide range of shops and boutiques of the most
prestigious fashion brands in the world.
The heart of this avenue is located where Arquímedes
Street and Moliere Avenue meet. It’s this sector of
the street in which we can find shops like
Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, among others.
In this area, in the corner of Mazaryk and Oscar
Wild, we can find the elegant ‘Polanco Passage’, a
small commercial road which dates back to the 1940’s
and contains several exclusive shops specialized in
design, jewelry and furniture. On the outsides of
this ‘passage’, on Presidente Mazaryk Avenue, we can
find several terraced restaurants which are
frequented by artists and the most renowned people
of Mexico’s “it” crowd.
A few blocks to the east of this area, in Mazaryk
and Lamartine, we can find the Habita, a modern
hotel-boutique that has been internationally
recognized by its forward architecture and that was
designed by Enrique Norten, one of the most
prestigious Mexican architects today. The most
interesting space in this hotel is its roof garden,
which has a bar and a pool, and in which the city’s
most ‘chic’ parties take place.
We recommend that you visit this avenue preferably
on Thursday and Friday afternoons, as it is on these
days when the place becomes more dynamic and
effervescent. |
